Why a value beats a specific service
The temptation when buying a spa gift is to pick the service for them. It rarely lands the way you hope. Somebody who wanted deep tissue work gets a facial. Somebody nervous about laser gets a laser session and quietly never books it.
A gift card avoids all of that. The person receiving it chooses the service, the date and the provider, and if they want to put the value toward something larger and pay the difference, they can. They call the desk or book online, mention the gift card, and it comes off the total. Nothing about a gift card changes the booking process.
The seasons this matters most
Two times of year the front desk phone rings almost entirely about gift cards: the first two weeks of May, and December. If you are buying for Mother's Day or for the holidays, buy early. Not because the cards run out, but because the appointments do. A card bought on December 22 for a January booking is a much better gift than a card bought on December 24 for an appointment that is not available until March.
Birthdays, new babies, thank yous to somebody who helped you, and the friend who has had a rough year make up most of the rest.
