Lymphatic Drainage Massage

Almost nothing like a regular massage. Very light pressure, a specific rhythm, and a completely different reason for booking it.

Lymphatic drainage massage is a gentle technique using rhythmic strokes and light pressure, which may support the movement of lymph fluid in the body. It is deliberately soft, not a deep tissue session at lower intensity. Wellness Origin publishes 60 minute sessions at $130, with three sessions at $320 and six at $610.

What makes it different from other massage

Every other massage on our menu works on muscle. This one does not. The lymphatic system sits close to the surface, so the technique uses very light pressure and a repeated, rhythmic stroke pattern rather than depth. If you booked it expecting a normal massage, your first reaction will be that the therapist is barely touching you. That is the technique working as designed, not a therapist holding back.

The strokes are directional and repetitive, worked in sequence rather than wandering around the body. Sessions are calm, slow and quiet, and a lot of clients fall asleep. Unlike deep tissue, there is no soreness afterward and nothing to recover from.

Who books it

Clients preparing for an event, who want a very gentle session in the days beforehand. People who travel constantly and spend long stretches immobile in seats. People already booked in for other services at the spa who want something restful rather than firm. And regulars who simply prefer light touch work over pressure, full stop.

We want to be clear about what we are not saying on this page. Wellness Origin is a day spa, not a medical clinic. We do not diagnose, we do not treat and we make no claims about outcomes. If you are considering lymphatic drainage massage in connection with any medical situation, including anything post surgical, that decision belongs with your physician, and you should have their guidance before booking with us.

What a session looks like

  1. Consultation first

Your therapist will ask what brings you in and will tell you plainly if lymphatic drainage is not the right booking. If there is a medical dimension to your reason for coming, we will ask you to speak with your physician first.

  2. Very light contact

The session begins gently and stays gentle. There is no warm up into firmer work, because firmer work is not the technique.

  3. Rhythmic, directional strokes

Repeated sequences worked in a set direction, at a slow and steady pace, over the session.

  4. Quiet throughout

Most clients find this the easiest session on the menu to fall asleep in. That is a perfectly good outcome.

  5. Afterward

No downtime and no soreness. Drink water and carry on with your day.

Questions

Common questions

What is lymphatic drainage massage?

It is a gentle massage technique using rhythmic strokes and light pressure, which may support the movement of lymph fluid in the body. It is distinct from Swedish or deep tissue massage, which work on muscle with far more pressure. At Wellness Origin it is offered as a 60 minute session at $130.

Why is the pressure so light?

Because the technique is designed around structures that sit close to the skin surface rather than deep in muscle. Adding pressure would not make it a better version of the same thing, it would make it a different treatment. If you want firm work, book deep tissue at $98 for 60 minutes instead.

Can I book this after surgery?

That is a question for your physician, not for us. Wellness Origin is a day spa and we do not diagnose or treat anything, so we cannot advise on anything post surgical. If your physician has given you specific guidance, bring it to your consultation and we will tell you honestly whether we can accommodate it.

How often do people book it?

Our packages are built in blocks of three and six, which is where most regular clients sit. Cadence is something to discuss with your therapist based on why you are coming in. Three sessions are $320 and six are $610, both at 60 minutes.

Is a 90 minute session available?

Only the 60 minute session is currently published, at $130 for a single session, $320 for three and $610 for six. Call (317) 979-1234 and the front desk will confirm what can actually be booked before you plan around it.
