Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
What to Expect From a Hyperbaric Oxygen Session
Most people book their first session without a clear picture of what an hour in a pressurized chamber is actually like. Here is the whole thing, start to finish.
A hyperbaric oxygen session at Wellness Origin is 60 or 90 minutes spent resting inside a pressurized chamber, breathing oxygen at greater than normal air pressure. You stay awake, you can read or listen to something, and you drive yourself home afterward. Sessions are published at $187 for 60 minutes and $280.50 for 90 minutes.
What a session looks like
Arrive and check in
Come in cotton clothing, without cosmetics, lotions or jewelry, and skip alcohol and carbonated drinks for four hours beforehand. We ask everyone to arrive about 15 minutes early so the session starts on time.
Pre session review
A team member confirms your intake, answers questions, shows you the chamber controls and explains how to signal the operator at any point during the session.
Compression
The chamber is brought up to pressure gradually. This is the part people notice most: a fullness in the ears, much like a plane coming in to land. You clear it by swallowing or yawning, and it passes within a minute or two.
Time at pressure
The bulk of the appointment. You lie down, breathe normally and read, nap or listen to something. There is nothing to hold and nothing to do.
Decompression and exit
Pressure comes back down over several minutes, your ears equalize again, and the chamber opens. There is no recovery period and no waiting around afterward.
How long is a session and how often do people come?
Two lengths are published: 60 minutes and 90 minutes. The pressurized time is the same experience in both, so the choice is mostly about how much of your day you want to give it and what you and our team decide during your consultation.
Hyperbaric time is usually bought as a series rather than one appointment. That is why the published rates step down sharply at volume: 3, 10, 20 and 40 session packages all carry a lower per session cost than a single visit. People who come in on a package tend to book several sessions in a week rather than spreading them across a month, and they schedule the whole block up front so the room is held. If you are not sure how many sessions make sense for you, book one and talk it through with our team afterward rather than committing to a package first.

What does it actually feel like?
Quiet, warm and uneventful. The only physical sensation worth preparing for is the ear pressure during compression and decompression. If you have ever flown, you already know the feeling and you already know how to clear it. Our operator brings the pressure up slowly and will hold or slow the rate if you need more time.
Once you are at pressure the chamber is simply a comfortable place to lie down. Some people fall asleep. Some read. Some use the hour as the only stretch of the day with no phone in it. You are in contact with the operator the entire time, and the session can be ended early if you want it to be.
Wellness Origin is a day spa, not a medical clinic. We do not diagnose or treat anything, and we do not decide whether hyperbaric time is appropriate for you. A consultation before your first session is required, and anyone with an ongoing health concern should talk to their own physician first.

Questions
Common questions
Do I need a consultation before my first hyperbaric session?
Yes. Every first time client talks with our team before booking chamber time. The consultation covers your intake, how the chamber works and what preparation is required. Wellness Origin does not diagnose or treat any condition, so if you have an ongoing health concern the right first conversation is with your own physician, and the second is with us.
Will my ears hurt?
You will feel pressure in your ears while the chamber compresses and again while it decompresses, similar to a descending flight. Swallowing, yawning or gently clearing usually settles it within a minute. Tell the operator if it is uncomfortable and the rate of change can be slowed or paused. Most people stop noticing it entirely by their second or third session.
Can I use my phone in the chamber?
Ask our team when you book. Chamber rules on what may be brought inside are set by the equipment and are not negotiable, so we confirm them with you during your pre session review rather than at the door. Most people bring a paper book or listen to audio through the chamber setup instead.
How many sessions do people usually book?
It varies, and we will not put a number on it for you before a consultation. What we can tell you is how the pricing is built: single sessions, then 3, 10, 20 and 40 session packages with a lower per session rate at each step. That structure reflects the fact that most people who use the chamber use it as a series.
Is there any downtime afterward?
No. Sessions are scheduled so that you walk out and get on with your day. You can drive yourself home, go back to work or go straight to the gym. The main thing we suggest is drinking water afterward, which is good practice around any session at the spa.
