Custom Massage
For people who do not fit neatly into one style. Swedish technique, deep tissue technique and stretching, mixed to suit the body on the table.
A custom massage at Wellness Origin combines Swedish and deep tissue techniques with stretching, built around a conversation with your therapist about your areas of concern. It is the booking to make when part of you wants firm work and the rest of you wants to relax. Sessions are 60 minutes at $98 or 90 minutes at $144.
Why a custom session exists at all
Most people are not one style. They want firm, specific work through the upper back and shoulders, and they want the rest of the hour to be a proper relaxation massage. Booking Swedish gets them a lovely hour that leaves the shoulders untouched. Booking deep tissue gets them sixty minutes of concentrated work when they only wanted twenty.
The custom session solves that. Your therapist combines the long gliding strokes and kneading of Swedish work with the slower, deeper technique of deep tissue, and adds assisted stretching where it makes sense. The proportions are set by the conversation you have before you get on the table, and adjusted during the session as your therapist finds what is actually going on.
How the session gets built
The conversation
Before anything else, your therapist asks what you do all day, what you train, where you carry tension and what you want out of the hour. Be specific. This is the part that determines everything else.
A plan for the time
Between you, you decide roughly how the time gets divided. For example: twenty five minutes of focused work through the shoulders and neck, the rest as a full body relaxation pass.
Mixed technique
Swedish strokes to warm and to move between regions, deeper and slower work in the areas you named, and stretching where your therapist judges it useful.
Adjustment on the table
The plan is not a contract. If your therapist finds something unexpected, or you want more time somewhere, say so and the session changes.
Notes for next time
Regular clients build a picture over several sessions with the same therapist, which is the main argument for booking a package rather than one offs.

Booking notes
Ninety minutes is the more natural fit for a custom session, simply because you are asking for more than one thing in the same appointment. Sixty works well if your focused area is small and clearly defined.
Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your start time. Late arrivals may have the session shortened so that the client after you is not delayed, and the full service price still applies. Cancellations require 24 hours notice for a single service, or 48 hours if you have several services booked on the same day. A credit card is required at the time of scheduling.
Wellness Origin is a day spa, not a medical clinic. Our therapists do not diagnose or treat anything. If you are dealing with a specific physical concern, speak to your physician as well, and tell your therapist about it before the session starts.

Questions
Common questions
How is a custom massage different from just asking for firmer pressure?
Pressure is one variable. A custom session also changes technique and structure: Swedish strokes in some regions, slower deep tissue work in others, and assisted stretching added where your therapist thinks it helps. You are agreeing how the hour gets spent, not only how hard someone presses.
Can I request a specific therapist?
Yes, and we would encourage it once you have found someone whose work suits you. The main advantage of seeing the same therapist repeatedly is that they already know your back and your preferences, which means less of the session gets spent finding out. Call (317) 979-1234 to check availability.
Is stretching always included?
It is available, not mandatory. Your therapist will use assisted stretching where they judge it useful and where you are comfortable with it, and it is one of the things that distinguishes a custom session from a straight Swedish or deep tissue booking. If you would rather skip it entirely, say so during the pre session conversation.
Which should I book, 60 or 90 minutes?
Ninety, if you want focused work on a specific area and a full body relaxation pass in the same visit. Sixty is enough when there is one clearly defined region to address. Ninety minutes is $144 single, or $357 for three sessions and $684 for six.
Do you offer packages?
Yes. Three sessions at 60 minutes is $244 and six is $468. At 90 minutes, three is $357 and six is $684. All services expire one year from the date of purchase and service purchases are non refundable, so buy the block you will actually use.
