Swedish Massage
The classic full body massage, at a pressure you can fall asleep under. Sixty or ninety minutes, with organic products throughout.
Swedish massage uses light to medium pressure and a set of classic techniques: long gliding strokes, kneading and circular movement across the muscle. It is the style most people picture when they think of massage, and the one most often chosen for straightforward relaxation. At Wellness Origin it is 60 minutes at $98 or 90 minutes at $144.
What Swedish massage actually is
Swedish massage is defined by its techniques rather than by a target. Long gliding strokes along the length of a muscle, kneading that lifts and compresses tissue, and circular movement worked over broader areas. Pressure sits in the light to medium range, and the therapist works with oil so the strokes stay continuous rather than catching on the skin.
The practical difference between this and deep tissue is intent. Swedish stays at the surface and keeps moving. Deep tissue slows down, drops in and stays with a specific area. Neither is a stronger version of the other. If you want an hour where nothing is demanded of you and you are not braced against the pressure, Swedish is the one to book.
What a session looks like
Arrival
Come 15 minutes early. Late arrivals may have the session shortened to protect the next client's appointment, and the full price still applies.
Consultation with your therapist
A short conversation about pressure preference, areas you would rather they avoid, and anything you want them to know before you are on the table.
Setup
You undress to your comfort level and lie under the sheet. The therapist knocks before entering and you are draped throughout, with only the area being worked uncovered.
The work
Long strokes, kneading and circular movement across back, shoulders, arms, legs and neck, with organic oils. Say something at any point if you want more or less pressure.
Finish
You are given time to get up slowly. Drink water afterward. Gratuity is welcome in cash, check or card.

Sixty or ninety minutes?
Sixty minutes covers a full body pass with reasonable time on the back and shoulders. Ninety minutes is the one to book if you want proper time on more than one region, or if you simply want longer on the table without the therapist having to ration the clock. If you are booking a massage as the whole point of the visit rather than as an add on to something else, ninety is usually the better value.
Both lengths carry 3 and 6 session packages at a lower per session rate. Services purchased expire one year from the date of purchase and service purchases are non refundable, so buy the block you will use.
Wellness Origin is a day spa. Massage here is for relaxation and comfort. We do not diagnose or treat anything, and if you have a specific physical concern, please raise it with your physician as well as with your therapist.

Questions
Common questions
What is the difference between Swedish and deep tissue massage?
Technique and pressure. Swedish uses long gliding strokes, kneading and circular movement at light to medium pressure and keeps moving across the body. Deep tissue uses slower strokes and firmer pressure to work into deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue, spending longer in one area. Both are 60 minutes at $98 and 90 minutes at $144 here.
Do I have to undress completely?
No. You undress to whatever level you are comfortable with, and you are draped with a sheet for the whole session. Only the area being worked on at that moment is uncovered. Your therapist leaves the room while you get on the table and knocks before coming back in.
How often should I book a massage?
There is no rule that applies to everyone. What we can tell you is that our package pricing is built around 3 and 6 session blocks, which is where most regular clients land, and that people who book a standing appointment tend to keep it while people who book reactively tend not to. Talk to your therapist about a cadence that fits your week.
Should I tip?
Gratuity is welcome and appreciated. Our stated etiquette is that a minimum of 15% is courteous, since our practitioners spend additional time and effort creating the environment around your session. We accept gratuity in cash, check or card at the front desk, and there is no expectation that you settle it in the treatment room.
What happens if I am late?
Your session may be shortened so the client after you is not pushed back, and the full price of the booked service still applies. Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your start time. Cancellations need 24 hours notice for a single service and 48 hours for multiple services on the same day.
