Custom enzyme peel in Carmel, Indiana
The gentlest chemical exfoliation we offer, blended for your skin rather than pulled off a shelf. Here is what an enzyme peel actually is.
An enzyme peel uses natural enzymes and fruit extracts, together with gentle acids, to accelerate the shedding of dead surface cells while replenishing moisture. Enzymes work selectively on that dead surface layer, which is why an enzyme peel is far gentler than a traditional chemical peel. Ours is customised and published at $147.
What is an enzyme peel?
An enzyme peel is a form of chemical exfoliation that relies primarily on enzymes derived from fruit rather than on strong acids. Enzymes work by breaking down protein, and the dead cells sitting on the surface of your skin are held together by protein. That is the mechanism, and it is also the reason enzyme peels have a reputation for gentleness: the enzymes act on that dead surface material rather than stripping aggressively through healthy layers.
The word peel does a lot of unhelpful work here. It brings to mind flaking skin, a week indoors and a face you would rather not be seen with. That is not this treatment. An enzyme peel is a comfortable, hydrating session with minimal downtime, which is exactly why it sits on our organic facial menu and why it is one of the more popular bookings for people whose skin does not tolerate stronger chemical exfoliation.
What makes this peel custom
Rather than one product applied to every client, your esthetician blends the peel for you. Natural enzymes, fruit extracts and gentle acids are combined based on the assessment at the start of your appointment, taking into account your skin type, what you use at home, the season and how your skin has behaved after previous treatments if you have had them here before.
Alongside exfoliation, the formulation is built to replenish moisture. That combination is the point of the treatment: taking away the dull surface layer while putting hydration back, so you are not left with skin that feels stripped and tight. Clients typically describe their skin as smoother and more elastic afterward, and makeup as sitting better the following day.
An enzyme peel also appears on our esthetics add on list, which means it can be combined with another facial rather than booked alone. Add on pricing is not currently published, so call (317) 979-1234 and we will price the combination for you.

What happens during a session
Skin assessment
Your esthetician examines your skin and asks what you have used recently, particularly any prescription topicals or strong actives at home. This determines the blend.
Double cleanse
Everything comes off first so the peel is working on skin rather than on residue.
The blend is mixed and applied
Enzymes, fruit extracts and gentle acids, formulated for you and applied evenly across the treatment area.
Processing time
The peel is left on for a period your esthetician controls, watching your skin the whole time. Expect warmth or light tingling. Say something if it becomes more than that.
Removal, hydration, protection
The peel is removed, moisture is replenished, and you leave with sun protection advice for the following days.
Before and after your peel
- Tell your esthetician about any retinoid or prescription topical you use, before the appointment rather than during it.
- Do not book an enzyme peel the same day as another exfoliating treatment.
- Leave scrubs and strong actives alone for a few days afterward.
- Be diligent with sun protection. Freshly exfoliated skin needs it.
- If you have an event, book a few days ahead rather than the day before.
- Wellness Origin is a day spa, not a medical clinic. We do not diagnose or treat any skin condition.

Questions
Common questions
What is an enzyme peel?
It is chemical exfoliation using enzymes derived from fruit, together with fruit extracts and gentle acids, to accelerate the shedding of dead surface cells while replenishing moisture. Enzymes break down the protein holding dead cells together, which is why the treatment is gentle compared with a traditional chemical peel. Ours is customised and published at $147.
Will my skin actually peel?
Not in the way the name suggests. This is a gentle treatment with minimal downtime rather than a resurfacing procedure with days of visible flaking. Most people leave looking brighter and smoother the same day. Your esthetician will tell you exactly what to expect from the blend they have made for you.
How is it different from a chemical peel?
Strength and mechanism. A traditional chemical peel relies on stronger acids working through the skin more aggressively. An enzyme peel relies primarily on fruit enzymes acting on the dead surface layer, supported by gentle acids, and adds moisture back at the same time. It suits a much wider range of skin types as a result.
Can I have an enzyme peel with sensitive skin?
Often yes, which is a large part of why it exists on our menu, but the decision is made at your assessment rather than in advance. Tell your esthetician what has irritated your skin previously. If they think a different exfoliation route suits you better, they will say so before anything is applied.
How often can I have one?
Our packages are built at three and six sessions, $397 and $749, which reflects how regular clients book it. The interval that suits you is set by your esthetician based on your skin and on what else you are having done, rather than by a fixed rule.
Can it be added to another facial?
Enzyme peel appears on our esthetics add on list, so yes. No add on prices are currently published. Call (317) 979-1234 and we will price your combination before you book.
